VISA.NET Shared Components 64-Bit, developed by the IVI Foundation, is a set of vendor-neutral .NET assemblies that provide a standardized API for communicating with test and measurement instruments via the VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) standard. The 64-bit edition supplies x64 assemblies for building and running modern 64-bit Windows applications in C# and other .NET languages.
These shared components offer common interfaces and helper classes for tasks such as resource discovery, session management, attribute access, and formatted I/O. They support communication over widely used buses and protocols, including GPIB, USBTMC, serial (COM), PXI, and TCP/IP-based interfaces like VXI-11 and HiSLIP. The package does not include a VISA implementation or device drivers; you must install a compatible 64-bit VISA library from your instrument vendor (for example, NI-VISA, Keysight IO Libraries Suite, or TekVISA).
